Mitsuo Iwamoto is a freelance journalist based in Berlin, contributing to outlets such as die tageszeitung (taz), Zeit Online, and Bayerischer Rundfunk, where's he's done some reporting for the Wild Wild Web podcast. His main areas of focus include right-wing extremism, exploitation on the internet, and solutions for the climate crisis. He studied politics and philosophy at Oxford University and attended the Deutsche Journalistenschule (German School of Journalism). In 2023, he was awarded the Ensemble Prize by the Saarland Journalists Association for his coverage of the racist terror attack at the Olympia Shopping Center in Munich.
