This piece is based on an experience I had with my grandfather many years ago. One spring day I agreed to help my Papa with a favour—to take care of a caterpillar outbreak in the forest near his house. With a blowtorch and Tilley hat in hand I headed into the woods and started to burn all the caterpillar nests to the ground. But as I began to set their nests aflame I wondered, who is the real monster here? Me, or the caterpillars?
